Bangladesh mission 2010

We are home. We made new friends and rekindled old friendships made in the last 2 years. We saw children who had smiling faces. We saw women in FCT groups learning to read, saving money and using their savings to create Income Generating Activities(IGA's). Their self respect is restored as they learn to be leaders in their communities. These women might eliminate one meal a week in order to save about 12 cents per week. They are women of worth. Beautiful intelligent women who are improving their families position in life.
FH Bangladesh are working toward FCT sponsorship programs. These are similar to child sponsorship. Sponsorship dollars(whether child or FCT group sponsor) are used to support the FH programs that empower the women of Bangladesh and assures their children remain in school.
It all boils down to the old tale...
Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.

We are in Bangladesh

I am just writing a quick note to let you all know we arrived in Dhaka on time and we are safe. Our schedules kept us busy since we arrived.
We arrived in Dhaka on Saturday morning then left for Mymensingh on Sunday morning where we immediately began our community visits in the Trishal community.
Today (Wednesday) we returned to Dhaka. John Marsden has been working with us today to answer all our questions. All sorts of questions. Cultural, FH based, FTC info type, etc.
We are visiting the Wari and Outfall schools tomorrow and also our sponsored children.
We head home on Monday afternoon.
Thanks for all your continued prayers!!
